Guest Pre-Embarkation Guide:
Our goal is to provide you with a fun and memorable experience and ensure you have the most time available for enjoying the yacht and the setting. The following guide is information that will help ensure you have a safe and fun adventure while aboard our vessels. Please review this information with your guests prior to arriving so that we may devote as much of our time as possible to your enjoyment. This guide covers some basics of being aboard a boat, and what to do in case of an emergency. While it is extremely unlikely that any of the emergencies outlined below will occur, it is always better to be prepared than not.
1. Deck shoes or tennis shoes with serviceable tread are required for boarding. No leather bottom shoes, pumps, flip-flops or heels are allowed under any circumstances.
2. Bring a jacket. Even on a sunny day, the marine layer can come in unexpectedly and cool things off fast.
3. Either shorts or pants are preferred. No loose clothing that may get caught on boat fixtures. Consider attaching your glasses or sunglasses with a lanyard or they may get blown overboard. It is strongly recommended that you secure your keys, cell phones or other electronics in a zippered pocket. Stow personal items below decks upon boarding. We have secure stowage if you need it.
4. When boarding the vessel, only one passenger is allowed on the boarding ladder at any time.
5. For harbor cruise guests, if you are prone to motion sickness, take medication about 1/2 hour before boarding. Once you are already experiencing the effects of motion sickness, these medications will be of no use. If you are feeling nauseous, please ask a crew member for a bag, and remain below decks near the center of the boat where rolling motions are at their least.
6. If you require assistance boarding or disembarking or have any other special needs, please let us know (preferably in advance) so that we can assist you.
7. Make yourself familiar with the location of life jackets, emergency medical kits and fire extinguishers.
8. While underway, it is best to remain seated when you are not traversing between decks. Please use available grab rails to keep yourself steady while traversing between decks. Under no circumstances should you declare yourself 'king of the world' from the bow of the boat. Always face inboard when moving to the front or back of the boat, NEVER face outward. Watch your head when moving through doorways, some have low clearances.
9. (IMPORTANT!) Marine toilets are NOT tolerant of objects other than human waste and toilet paper (in moderate quantities). For ALL other items, please use the waste basket in the bathroom or the feminine hygiene product disposal bags under the sink counter. A marine toilet that becomes clogged while underway is an unforgiving creature at best. Do not attempt to tame such a beast yourself. Call a crew member and admit your transgression.
10. Indulge yourself, but please do not over-indulge yourself. Natalie Wood impressions are not in anyone's interest. Guests that are noticeably inebriated will be asked to remain below deck for the remainder of the voyage.
11. Should the captain call "man overboard" please stay seated and away from the railing so the crew can handle the emergency.
12. Report any unsafe condition, or smoke/burning smell to a crew member immediately. Also, the sound of running water on a boat in the absence of an open faucet is a bad thing.
13. Boats are full of strange hatches, doors and cubbies. Please respectfully restrain your explorations.
14. Harbor Cruise passengers are requested to remain seated while getting underway and during docking. Please remain seated during this time until advised by that captain that you are free to move about.
Upon boarding, you will be asked to sign a copy of the above advisories.
